MA Menswear
This two-year Masters in Menswear is based at The University of Westminster, and is the destination for the most creative, driven and original thinkers who will shape the contemporary menswear and design-based industries. Entry onto the course is based on a combination of formal qualifications, industry experience, portfolio, garments and demonstration of commitment through a considered study proposal.
We welcome applications from individuals who have either a First or Upper Second Class Honours degree in fashion design, textiles or design-related subject areas, or the professional experience that demonstrates an equivalent knowledge and commitment to study for an Honours degree.
Year one - MA Menswear 1
This module is based upon a programme of personal and aimed at bringing research, design, specialist abilities and thinking to postgraduate level. There will be a continuous tutor, peer and self-reflective evaluation with each project feeding into a final synoptic grade only assessment that champions a diagnostic, reflexive and critical approach.
Year two - MA Menswear 2
The second-year module is self-directed with essential industry related work aimed at developing the highest level of creative thinking, specialised process and professionalism aligned to each student’s individual aspirations. This summative module is designed to enable students to generate their own perspective on originality, the creation of the appropriate specialist techniques and a working process and context that establishes them as influential and informed design professional. Pre-requisites are the successful completion of the first year MA Menswear module or demonstration of having achieved the equivalent.

Menswear Archive
The Westminster Menswear Archive was founded in 2016 to establish and maintain a collection of garments and related artefacts to encourage and develop the study of menswear design from a technical and functional point of view; to advance the general knowledge of menswear as a design discipline, and to serve as a resource tool to inform contemporary menswear design.
The Westminster Menswear Archive has examples of some of the most important and exciting menswear garments covering the last 250 years. The archive includes garments from the following designers: A-COLD-WALL*, Adidas, Ahluwalia, Aitor Throup, Alexander McQueen, Aquascutum, Austin Reed, Barbour, Belstaff, Berghaus, Bernhard Willhelm, Blades, BodyMap, Bonneville, Bukta, Burberry, Burton, C.P. Company, Calvin Klein, Carol Christian Poell, Christian Dior, Comme Des Garcons, Craig Green Gieves, H&M, Harrods, Helmut Lang, Irvine Sellars, Issey Miyake, Jean Paul Gaultier, Jeremy Scott, Joe Casely-Hayford, John Stephens, Junior Gaultier, Kim Jones, Left Hand, Levi’s, Lewis Leathers, Liam Hodges, Martin Margiela, Martine Rose, Masimo Osti, Meadham Kirchhoff, Michiko Koshino, Mr Fish, Nanamica, Nigel Cabourn, Palace, Paul Smith, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Sibling, Stone Island, Tom Gilby, Tommy Nutter, Umbro, Undercover, Vexed Generation, Vivienne Westwood, Walter Van Beirendonck, Zegna Sport.
The archive also contains a large collection of utilitarian and uniform garments from the British Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, Metropolitan Police, HM Prisons, London Underground, GPO, Coldstream Guards, and London Fire Brigade, among others.
MA MENSWEAR STUDIOS
Our fashion facilities at the University of Westminster are acknowledged as being outstanding, with each year having their own dedicated studio to work in, equipped with individual student design spaces. Each of our design studios is equipped with industrial sewing machines, pattern cutting tables and mannequins. To ensure staff and students take full advantage of our facilities, we have a full-time menswear technician that oversees the studios and work with all students helping them create their design work.
Studio teaching days are from 10am - 5pm, however, students have access to their studio spaces and equipment between 8am and 9pm Monday through Friday and are also open Saturdays from 10am - 4pm.

The University of Westminster has a world-class reputation for producing highly creative fashion professionals, and our alumni include London Fashion Week designers Ahluwahlia, Robyn Lynch, S.S. Daley, and Liam Hodges.
After graduation, most students go on to work in the international fashion industry. Westminster graduates are extremely successful in the job market with over 90 percent of all final year students going directly into fashion-related work, predominantly as designers or assistant designers working within established companies, or starting up their own design businesses.
Graduates from the MA Menswear are now working in the design teams at companies including Bottega Veneta, Givenchy, Stone Island, Supreme, C.P. Company, Alexander McQueen, Adidas, Charles Jeffrey, Hypebeast, and Maison Margiela.
